Does God Really Exist for Him? An Amazing Story

Does God Really Exist for Him? An Amazing Story

This is an interesting story narrated by a Rapido driver to me which is very sad as to how he jostled his way through his topsy-turvy journey in his life yet the SMILE on his face did not vanish throughout the trip.

The 22 km journey started from Hindustan Park, Kolkata after I booked a Rapido on 26th Sept 2022. The rider called me to ask for my drop location post which I assumed that he would cancel the booking but he came picked me. My journey started at 6.20pm and his 1st question was what I do for living? I was shocked but still replied him.

Then he started saying  , “ Sir, I am only Class 10 pass “ but I can debate on any topic as my life has taught me more than anyone else …I asked why? What happened? He said, Will you listen to my story? My answer was an affirmative one.

godHe started. Sir, we used to be a family 7 but now 4…. I am the eldest and now 42 years old. We were 2 brothers, one sister and my parents but then Dad suddenly had an accident and was completely bedridden and passed away after prolonged sickness in 2013. He was with police department. He asked his younger brother to take up his father’s breadwinner job in police as he was happy doing a job-related to photography which was and his interest till date. After the death of his father rider’s mother asked him to open his own shop and expand his photography business but he turned down saying the money could be utilized for some other work.

In the meanwhile, he married his sister and everything was going good in his family when again sorrow engulfed his family. He lost his younger brother all of a sudden on account of a heart attack and his mom could not recover from this irreparable loss. On the other side, his sister and her daughter had to move back to his house as his brother-in-law’s family started mentally/physically harassing them. Once again testing his responsibility towards his family and he took it with a pinch of salt with positive intent.

His sister has a daughter whose studies had to be taken care of and he knew this very well. The rider kept on narrating his story with a smile and kept on nudging me if I was listening to him. He said that God always tested his patience but he stood his ground giving the test as he had no plans to challenge him and burst into laughter. I could feel the deep pain embedded in his heart.

I could also make out that he and his brother always believed in helping others whenever they needed it with no expectations in return. He also believed that whatever happens in life is planned by God and it is for the betterment. I was thinking what was one good thing that might have happened in his life.  I could not single out one but Am I right person to judge? Is God really with him?

I had reached EM Bypass and entered Salt lake. He knew that he would drop me in another 15 to 20 minutes. I enquired about his marital status and his answer was married but.. Again his narration started, he continued that he got married in 2017 and within 1.5 years of their marriage his wife left him and went back to her home.

She started behaving weirdly after 9 months of their wedding and one day his in-laws and took his wife saying that she would return after few days. That day never came and she never returned. He realized that she had taken everything when she went to her house. He called her many times to discuss why she did this to which she replied that she did not want stay there instead he should stay at his in- laws place to continue his married life. He out rightly rejected the offer and never spoke to her again. This brings a tragic end to his married life.

I was thinking, Is it his Karma? The Law of Karma is infallible and everyone invariably is subjected to it. Sometimes we are oblivious to the fact that most of our lifetime is spent in undergoing destiny which is created by our karmas or deeds in our past births. As per the law of karma, every positive deed which we do, generates a ‘merit’; while every negative deed results in a ‘demerit or sin’ which subsequently we need to repay by enduring happiness or unhappiness.

Back to his life, they got a bad news that her sister’s husband had passed away due to prolonged cancer. It was a bad news for her sister but not depressing as his sister had gone through more pain due to her husband’s ill-treatment and their relation had ceased to exist.

On his personal front, his marriage was almost over but his ordeal did not end. One day he received a call from the nearest police station that a FIR has been lodged against him by his wife for mental harassment. Time and again he was being pushed to the extremes but still his belief in God remained constant and the smile on his face never faded… He was a positive inspirational guy who never allowed negative vibes to pull him down.

Coming back to FIR against him, he went to the police station to support his case with all the proofs and applied for a bail so that he is not arrested. The case is going in still going on and God knows which way it would go.  Then came Covid and so the pain arrived for him due to the lockdown and with 4 people to be fed he had to do away with all his photography belongings in order to survive during Covid times. He sold off his precious equipment’s just to survive.

Post Covid, he had nothing to do and then he joined Rapido and since then has been riding and sharing his story to different people and his smile on the face never fades. I have never met a person who has seen so many ups and downs in his life yet has very positive outlook towards life and is always willing to help people during their bad times.

Finally he dropped me in New Town and gave me his card of care Health Insurance where he works as Health Planner as well. He is also an avid singer who likes to perform as well along with his few friends in his locality. This ride was an eye opener and full of learning as it forced me to retrospect my life which I felt was painful but in front of him it is good which I realized very soon. Kudos to him and his good soul and May GOD give him the inner strength to keep fighting.
